Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi held a telephone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Friday evening to discuss bilateral relations and the latest diplomatic developments.

During the call, Araqchi thanked the government and people of Pakistan for hosting Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and his accompanying delegation during the president’s recent visit to Islamabad. He also expressed hope that the understandings and agreements reached during the trip would be seriously pursued and implemented at various levels.

For his part, Pakistan’s foreign minister appreciated President Pezeshkian’s visit and briefed Araqchi on measures and follow-up efforts undertaken by Pakistani authorities to secure the release of the Iranian crew members of the Lenore-Davina vessel.

The two foreign ministers also reviewed the latest diplomatic developments and stressed the need for continued consultations and cooperation to support lasting peace and stability in the region.

The case of Iranian sailors involves the vessel Lenore-Davina, which was intercepted by US forces in the Indian Ocean in early June as part of Washington’s campaign targeting maritime trade linked to Iran. Iranian officials have criticized such actions and called for respect for freedom of navigation and the rights of civilian maritime personnel.
