Speaking at a joint press conference with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, President Pezeshkian said Iran believes sustainable security, stability, development, and economic progress require honest dialogue and constructive interaction among neighboring countries rather than external intervention.

He said Tehran extends a hand of friendship to Islamic countries in pursuit of greater regional understanding and a collective security architecture capable of addressing common challenges.

Opening his remarks by citing verses from renowned Muslim philosopher and poet Muhammad Iqbal, the Iranian president emphasized the importance of unity, solidarity, and awakening in the Islamic world.

Pezeshkian said Iran and Pakistan enjoy relations that go beyond geographical proximity and are built on shared historical, cultural, and religious bonds as well as common interests and aspirations.

“Pakistan is not merely a neighbor for Iran; it is a brotherly and friendly country,” he said, adding that recent developments had once again demonstrated the depth of mutual trust and close cooperation between the two nations.

The president praised Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue, helping reduce tensions, and supporting regional stability during recent developments, describing Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts as constructive.

He also said Iran’s engagement with initiatives related to Pakistani-mediated contacts between Tehran and Washington reflected the level of confidence and longstanding relations between the two neighboring countries.

Expressing appreciation for the hospitality extended by Pakistan’s government and people, Pezeshkian described his meetings with Pakistani officials, including the prime minister, the president, and military leadership, as productive and forward-looking.

According to the president, the talks focused on bilateral relations, regional developments, and international issues and resulted in a shared determination to deepen cooperation and open a new chapter in Tehran–Islamabad relations.

Pezeshkian also referred to the role of several regional countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey, in promoting convergence and reducing tensions.

He said efforts by regional leaders to establish greater understanding and strengthen cooperation among Muslim nations represented a valuable approach that should be expanded.

Concluding his remarks, the Iranian president thanked the Pakistani side for accepting an invitation to visit Tehran and continue consultations aimed at implementing understandings reached during the visit and further strengthening bilateral ties.
