Iran Appreciates Tajikistan’s Support, Calls for Closer Cooperation

In a telephone conversation with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on Thursday, the two presidents welcomed the recent memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States on ending the war and stressed the importance of reinforcing peace and stability across the region.

They also underlined the need to expand bilateral cooperation in the economic, trade, tourism, and cultural sectors and emphasized deepening ties between Tehran and Dushanbe.

Referring to recent regional developments, President Pezeshkian expressed hope that greater unity among Islamic countries would help prevent destabilizing and aggressive policies and create conditions for sustainable regional security and peace.

He said Iran and Tajikistan enjoy deep historical, cultural, and civilizational ties and described relations between the two countries as strategic.

Pezeshkian added that Iran remains committed to broadening cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. He also thanked President Rahmon for his messages of goodwill and support and expressed confidence that the current positive atmosphere would further strengthen bilateral relations.

The Iranian president emphasized the importance of continued consultations and reciprocal high-level visits to elevate cooperation between Tehran and Dushanbe.

For his part, President Rahmon congratulated Iran on reaching the recent agreement to end the war, describing the development as a source of hope for the peoples of the region.

He said achieving such an agreement under the current complex international circumstances had not been easy and added that Iran’s friends welcomed the progress.

Rahmon also wished lasting peace, stability, and security for the Iranian people and the broader region and reaffirmed Tajikistan’s readiness to expand practical cooperation across various sectors.

The Tajik president stressed his country’s strong interest in further advancing ties with Iran and expressed hope that the current positive momentum would create new opportunities for economic cooperation, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, further strengthening the friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries.
