In a statement on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei strongly condemned the criminal acts carried out by Israeli settlers with the backing of the occupying regime’s army, including attacks on two mosques in Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, assaults on Palestinian homes, the beating of residents, and the destruction of property and farmland.
He described the attacks as part of the Zionist regime’s continued colonial and genocidal policy in occupied Palestine.
Expressing regret over the continued silence of international and human rights institutions, Baqaei stated that the ongoing inaction of the United Nations and its Security Council in response to the Israeli regime’s actions had encouraged further violations and enabled the commission of serious international crimes against Palestinians and other countries in the region.
He also stressed the religious and legal responsibility of Islamic governments and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to support the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and to help stop the Israeli regime’s campaign of killing and destruction.
Baqaei called for practical measures through OIC mechanisms to safeguard Al-Aqsa Mosque and other religious sites in occupied Palestine from continued attacks and to ensure accountability for those responsible.
