Presidents Urge Closer Iran-Azerbaijan Ties for Regional Stability

In the Tuesday call, the two presidents exchanged Eid greetings and underlined the importance of continued dialogue and constructive engagement between Tehran and Baku in advancing shared goals of peace, prosperity, and sustainable development in the region.
President Pezeshkian expressed hope that the spiritual blessings of Eid al-Adha would further enhance unity and calm across the region, while also thanking Azerbaijan Republic for its constructive positions during recent developments.
He emphasized that sustained regional interaction and cooperation remain essential for ensuring long-term peace and security.
The Iranian president also congratulated President Aliyev on the Republic of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day and wished continued progress and prosperity for the Azerbaijani people.
For his part, President Aliyev conveyed Eid greetings to the Iranian nation and expressed support for efforts aimed at de-escalating regional tensions and ending ongoing conflicts.
He described relations between Iran and Azerbaijan as strategic in nature, noting that the two neighbors have supported each other through various challenges and that expanding cooperation is key to maintaining regional stability.
The two sides also reviewed prospects for strengthening cooperation in economic and macroeconomic fields, transit corridors, and people-to-people exchanges, stressing the need to expedite the implementation of existing agreements to further elevate bilateral ties.
