Iran, India Discuss Hormuz Strait, Maritime Security

The talks took place on Friday on the sidelines of the second day of the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, where the two diplomats exchanged views on bilateral relations, regional developments, and multilateral cooperation.

Araqchi thanked India for hosting the BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting and said “very good discussions and meetings” have taken place during the summit.

He also expressed hope that greater coordination and achievements would be realized among member states during India’s presidency of BRICS.

The Iranian foreign minister further briefed his Indian counterpart on the latest developments following the 40-day war of aggression imposed by the US and the Zionist regime against Iran, the current fragile ceasefire, and the course of negotiations related to ending the war.

The two sides also held consultations on the latest situation in the Strait of Hormuz and developments related to maritime security and regional stability.

For his part, Jaishankar referred to the warm and friendly relations between Iran and India and stressed his country’s support for diplomatic solutions to resolve international issues and disputes.
