In a statement on Thursday night, Esmaeil Baqaei extended condolences to the families of the victims and expressed sympathy with the Lebanese people and government.
He also stressed the solidarity of the Islamic Republic of Iran with Lebanon in the face of the Zionist regime’s aggression.
Referring to the continuation of the Israeli regime’s military aggression against Lebanon and its repeated use of prohibited weapons, including phosphorus bombs, the Iranian spokesman said the situation is a direct result of the support and complicity of the United States and some other countries, including Germany and Britain, with the Israeli regime in violating international law and committing genocide and war crimes against the nations of the region.
Baqaei also emphasized the responsibility of the UN Security Council and all governments to hold the perpetrators accountable and punish the criminals.
The Israeli regime bombed Beirut’s southern suburbs for the first time since a ceasefire took effect on April 17.
The Israeli attacks caused extensive damage to a multi-story building in a densely populated neighborhood.
The Zionist regime killed at least 13 people in Lebanon on Wednesday as it has also continued to strike southern and eastern Lebanon.
