In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Araqchi and Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri discussed developments in Lebanon and the region, the course of the Islamabad negotiations, and issues of mutual interest.
The two sides strongly condemned the Zionist regime’s aggressive actions against regional countries, including Lebanon, and stressed the need for international action to put an end to brutal Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon, which have resulted in thousands of martyrs and wounded, destruction of residential areas and infrastructure, and the displacement of local residents.
Araqchi explained the latest developments in the diplomatic process mediated by Pakistan and praised the exemplary resistance of the Lebanese people against the Israeli regime’s brutal attacks, reaffirming the Islamic Republic of Iran’s firm support for Lebanon.
The Iranian foreign minister also underlined that ending the Israeli regime’s aggression against Lebanon was part of the Iran-US ceasefire understanding and said the matter would continue to be a priority for the Islamic Republic in any future process.
For his part, Berri referred to the Zionist regime’s repeated violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon and the Lebanese people’s heroic resistance against the military aggression, stressing the need to increase international pressure and adopt the necessary measures to hold the Israeli regime accountable for its actions.
The Lebanese parliament speaker also appreciated Iran’s efforts in supporting Lebanon’s rightful positions.
