Pezeshkian and Sanae Takaichi exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments and bilateral relations in the telephone conversation on Thursday.
The Iranian president highlighted the crimes committed by the United States and the Zionist regime in the recent 40-day imposed war against the Iranian nation, including the cowardly assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, a group of senior political and military officials, and hundreds of Iranian civilians, targeting public facilities, schools and hospitals, and the dangerous act of the aggressors in targeting peaceful nuclear facilities that are under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and considered these actions to be examples of war crimes.
Pezeshkian considered the provocative statements of American officials at the same time as the blockade of Iranian ports unacceptable and contrary to international laws and regulations, and emphasized that these actions will further complicate the situation in the region.
The president also reiterated the firm resolve of the Iranian government, people, and powerful Armed Forces to defend the indisputable and legitimate rights of Islamic Iran.
Meanwhile, he emphasized the country’s readiness to continue pursuing the diplomatic process in order to achieve a just solution that ensures respect for Iran’s rights and the establishment of peace and tranquility in the region.
He considered the realization of this to be conditional on stopping the excessive approach and provocative actions of the American side.
Pezeshkian considered the insecurity imposed on the Persian Gulf region and the Strait of Hormuz to be the result of the aggression by the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran and the continuation of the provocative and illegal actions of the United States in the blockade of Iranian ports and attacks on Iranian merchant ships.
He emphasized the need for all countries to adopt a clear and firm stance in condemning the US’ maritime piracy and threatening of international shipping.
The Japanese prime minister, for her part, emphasized that Tokyo attaches special importance to the continuation of friendly and stable relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, and highlighted Iran’s role in regional stability and security.
Japan believes that continued dialogue and consultations will help reduce tensions in the region, Takaichi said.
She appreciated allowing a Japanese ship to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, calling for the safe passage of other Japanese ships through this strategic waterway, and emphasized the importance of shipping security in this region.
Takaichi also emphasized efforts to peacefully resolve tensions in the Middle East, and considered diplomacy to be the main path to managing differences and reducing tensions.
She expressed hope that negotiations between Iran and the United States will resume soon and ultimately lead to a final agreement.
