In comments at a meeting with a group of senior judiciary officials, Ejei outlined the legal grounds for condemnation of the US and the Zionist regime under international law.
The top judge said the two regimes, during their unprovoked military aggression against Iran, had deliberately committed numerous war crimes, including the killing of children and civilians, as well as attacks on prohibited sites such as hospitals, schools, universities, and residential homes.
Referring to provisions of the 1949 Geneva Conventions, Ejei stated that the American and Israeli aggressors not only violated the Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols during their assault on Iran, but also breached applicable customary rules of armed conflict.
The Judiciary chief further referred to the pursuit of the US-Israeli aggressions and crimes against the Iranian people in international courts and forums. He said the Iranian authorities should exert maximum effort to secure the rightful rights of the nation in international judicial and legal bodies.
The US and the Zionist regime, in addition to initiating war and aggression against Iran and violating the material and moral rights of the Iranian people, have committed various war crimes, he said, adding that they must be prosecuted by competent international authorities for compensation, reparation, and punishment for those atrocities.
He added that Iran would not let go of these aggressors and would pursue them, stressing the importance of their punishment.
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s right to pursue legal and judicial action against all criminal and aggressive acts of the US and the Israeli regime in international forums, as well as through human rights mechanisms, remains fully reserved, he underlined.
