In a post on his X account on Sunday night, Qalibaf dismissed Trump’s threats of a naval blockade on Iran, implying that such measures would backfire.
“Enjoy the current pump figures. With the so-called 'blockade', Soon you'll be nostalgic for $4–$5 gas,” he reminded Americans.
“ΔO_BSOH>0 ⇒ f(f(O))>f(O),” Qalibaf wrote.
His post also included the photo of a map highlighting the gasoline prices at gas stations near the White House, further emphasizing his critique of Trump's threats.
Trump warned on Sunday that the US Navy would start blockading the Strait of Hormuz and would also interdict every vessel in international waters that had paid a toll to Iran.
But CENTCOM said this would only target ships going to or from Iranian ports. CENTCOM also noted that international vessels not going to or from Iran would have freedom of navigation to transit the strait. The US military said it will begin blockading Iranian ports on Monday at 14:00 GMT.
