In a pot on his X account on Sunday morning, Esmaeil Baqaei lauded Pakistan’s role in facilitating the talks between Iran and the United States in Islamabad.
“Diplomacy for us is the continuation of the sacred jihad of the defenders of the land of Iran. We have not forgotten and will not forget the experience of America's breaches of trust and malevolence. Just as we will not forgive the heinous crimes committed by them and the Zionist regime during the second and third imposed wars,” he said, referring to the US-Israeli wars of aggression launched against Iran, one in June last year and the other on February 28 this year.
“Today was a busy and long day for the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Islamabad. Intensive negotiations, which began on Saturday morning through good offices and mediation by Pakistan, have continued without interruption until now, with numerous messages and texts exchanged between the two sides. Iranian negotiators are utilizing all their strength, experience, and knowledge to safeguard Iran's rights and interests. The heavy grief of our elders, loved ones, and fellow countrymen has strengthened our resolve to pursue the interests and rights of the Iranian nation more than ever,” Baqaei added.
“Nothing can and should prevent us from pursuing our great historical mission towards our beloved homeland and the noble Iranian civilization. The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to use all tools, including diplomacy, to secure national interests and protect the country's welfare,” the Iranian spokesman stated.
“In the past 24 hours, discussions have taken place on various aspects of the main topics of negotiation, including the Strait of Hormuz, the nuclear issue, war reparations, lifting sanctions, and the complete end of the war against Iran and in the region,” he explained.
“The success of this diplomatic process depends on the seriousness and good faith of the other party, refraining from greed and illegal demands, and accepting Iran's legitimate rights and just interests,” Baqaei said.
“We thank the government and the noble and generous people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan for hosting the negotiations and their sincere efforts to advance this process,” he stated.
