In a statement released on Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry of Iran strongly condemned the illegal and unjustified action by the Argentine government in making unfounded accusations against the IRGC.
The ministry said Argentina’s decision runs counter to international norms and law, arguing that it appears to have been influenced by the “genocidal and occupying Zionist regime” and the United States. It added that the move coincided with US-Israeli military aggression against Iran and follows Argentina’s misguided alignment with aggressors.
According to the statement, the decision constitutes a clear violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly those respecting national sovereignty and prohibiting interference in the internal affairs of states. It described the move as a strategic mistake and an unforgivable insult to the Iranian nation.
The Foreign Ministry warned that the action would not only seriously damage bilateral relations between Iran and Argentina but also set a dangerous precedent in international relations and entail international responsibility for the Argentine government.
It further stated that Argentina’s president and foreign minister, by expressing alignment with US and Israeli military aggression against Iran, had effectively positioned themselves as partners in alleged crimes and placed themselves “on the wrong side of history.”
The ministry also reiterated the role of the IRGC as steadfast defender of Iran’s national security and described it as one of the most effective forces in combating Daesh (ISIS) terrorism. It stressed that the IRGC is an institution rooted in the Iranian people, deriving its legitimacy from the constitution and public will.
The statement concluded that, alongside other branches of Iran’s Armed Forces, the IRGC will continue to fulfill its duty of safeguarding the country’s independence, territorial integrity, and national security with strength and dignity. It added that Argentina’s move in following the US and Israel in labeling Iran’s Armed Forces would have no impact on the determination of Iranian defenders to protect the nation.
