IRCS Chief Condemns US-Israeli War Crimes as 282 Medical Facilities Targeted

Koulivand stated that since the beginning of the unjust aggression, more than 85,176 civilian sites have sustained damages, either directly or indirectly, with none of them having any military function.

"From this total, approximately 64,583 residential units and 19,694 commercial units have been affected, all of which were entirely civilian in nature," he said.

Koulivand added that 26,717 of these damaged units are in Tehran, which has borne the brunt of the assaults.

In this savage campaign, 282 medical facilities including hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and health centers have been struck, with some such as Motahari Hospital completely knocked out of service, he said.

"These actions are clear examples of war crimes," he declared.

Separately, 600 schools have been damaged, among the most notable being Minab school in south of Iran.

In addition, 17 Red Crescent branches and bases have come under attacks, including the highway toll base on the Tehran-Qom road.

Despite injuries to personnel, emergency services continued immediately through mobile units.

Koulivand highlighted the destruction of relief equipment, noting that three emergency helicopters have been completely destroyed, along with 48 rescue vehicles and 46 ambulances.

Airports, passenger aircraft and fuel depots in various parts of the country, including Tehran, have also been targeted.

He said that as a result of these attacks, 66 children under the age of five have been martyred and around 3,000 women who were in their homes have been injured.

Many residential areas have been entirely demolished.

Koulivand outlined the Red Crescent Society's robust response, saying that with prior planning and preparedness, rapid response teams across the country have been activated and arrive at every incident in less than 14 minutes.

"These teams, fully equipped, immediately begin rescue and relief operations," he explained.

He added that in Tehran alone, more than 680 people have been rescued alive from under the rubble and transferred to medical centers.

Search operations continue until all martyrs' bodies are recovered, and relief forces will not leave the site until the work is complete, he stated.

Koulivand emphasized the high morale of the rescuers, stating that despite 25 days having passed since the start of the operations, the emergency personnel continue their service with high motivation and without fatigue.

Meanwhile, he reported widespread public participation, noting that during the holy month of Ramadan, popular donations for relief supplies, with many prominent figures joining the rescuers on the ground.

Koulivand also welcomed international assistance channeled through the Red Crescent, saying some countries have sent aid, including Russia which dispatched a consignment of medicine and is preparing to send another 300 tons.

China, Tajikistan with about 600 tons of relief supplies, and the Republic of Azerbaijan are among the nations that have provided help, he explained.

Koulivand noted that coordination among various bodies has enhanced the effectiveness of operations.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
