Macron Calls for De-Escalation, Dialogue in Talks with Pezeshkian

“I spoke with the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian,” Macron announced in a post on his X Account on March 25.

“I emphasized the absolute necessity of ending unacceptable attacks against countries in the region, protecting energy and civilian infrastructure, and restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” the French president said.

“I called on Iran to engage in good faith in the negotiations to pave the way for a de-escalation and a framework that can meet the international community's expectations regarding Iran's nuclear and missile programs, as well as its destabilizing regional activities,” Macron claimed.

“Finally, I asked Iran to facilitate the return of our compatriots, Cecile Kohler and Jacques Paris, to France as soon as possible,” the French leader stated.

The US and the Israeli regime launched a large-scale unprovoked military campaign against Iran following the assassination of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, along with several senior military commanders and civilians on February 28.

The attacks have involved extensive aerial strikes on both military and civilian locations across Iran, causing significant casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure.

In response, the Iranian Armed Forces have carried out retaliatory operations, targeting American and Israeli positions in the occupied territories and at regional bases with waves of missiles and drones.
