Mohammad Mahdi Tabatabaei, the deputy for information at the Office of the President, announced in a post on his X account on Sunday that President Pezeshkian has appointed an acting head of the Ministry of Intelligence after the martyrdom of Khatib.
"Immediately after the martyrdom of Hojjatoleslam Khatib, the decree for the acting head of the Ministry of Intelligence was issued by the president and communicated to the relevant authorities. Information in this regard will be provided in due time. All branches of the Islamic Republic of Iran are firmly established, and no task has been left undone," Tabatabaei said.
Khatib was martyred on March 18 in an attack by the Zionist-American enemy.
According to the Constitution, each ministry can be managed by an acting head for up to three months in the absence of a minister.
