Russian Diplomats Remain Active in Iran as Situation Remains Stable Despite War

The embassy told Russian news agency RIA Novosti that diplomats and support personnel of the Russian Federation in Iran continue to stay in place and carry out their assigned duties.

The embassy emphasized that the situation in Tehran remains generally stable overall.

It noted that despite shelling and bombardment, shops and government offices are continuing their operations.

Separately, the embassy reported that some family members of embassy staff, along with certain support unit employees and teachers, departed Iran on March 3.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, speaking to RIA Novosti in reference to the US war against Iran, stated that Europe's energy sector faces collapse amid the Middle East crisis.

Zakharova said that the United States' withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) dealt a very serious blow to the foundations of stability and security in the Middle East region.

She added that the International Atomic Energy Agency has repeatedly stated there is no reason to refuse negotiations with Iran.

Zakharova further remarked that in the midst of the Middle East crisis, Europe is confronting the breakdown of its energy sector.
