Iran Denies Targeting US Embassy in Riyadh: Ambassador

Alireza Enayati, Iran's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, told AFP in an interview on Thursday that Iran had no role in any attack on the US embassy in Riyadh.

"We confirmed that Iran has no role in the attack on the US embassy in Riyadh," Enayati said.

He added that Iran appreciates Saudi Arabia's position on not permitting the use of its airspace, waters, or territory against Iran.

"We appreciate what we have heard regarding Saudi Arabia not allowing the use of its airspace, waters, and soil against Iran," Enayati said.

Separately, Prince Turki al-Faisal, former head of Saudi Arabia's intelligence agency, described the current war involving the United States and Israeli regime against Iran as driven by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

In an interview with CNN on Wednesday night, Turki al-Faisal responded to a question about whether the conflict would accelerate normalization between Israel and Saudi Arabia by saying: "Well forget normalization. Let alone what Israel is doing in Gaza and the West Bank."

"As you know this war is Netanyahu's war and he has made seven trips to the United States and it is clear that he has succeeded in convincing US President Donald Trump to support his (Netanyahu's) views," he added.

Turki al-Faisal emphasized that Netanyahu therefore initiated the war with Iran to divert attention from Israel's criminal actions not only in Gaza but also in the West Bank.

The former Saudi intelligence chief stated that Netanyahu wants to manipulate Israel's basic law to allow him to act without oversight, and that pushing for war with Iran was intended to shift public focus away from events in Palestine.
