Deputy FM Compares US Actions to Nazi Germany After Attack on Iranian Vessel

Khatibzadeh made the remarks on the sidelines of the Raisina Dialogue 2026 conference in New Delhi.

He stated that Iran is currently in a state of full-scale war.

“We have been subjected to attacks and aggression by the Americans and the Israelis. My compatriots are constantly under aerial bombardment. Tehran is continuously under attack,” Khatibzadeh said, according to Sputnik.

The Iranian diplomat described the conflict as a necessary confrontation with external crimes and urged the international community not to apply selective standards to international law, which he said is now under attack to the same extent as Iran.

Separately, Khatibzadeh warned that US actions, including “killing the leader of another country,” threaten global diplomatic norms.

He also commented on the US sinking of an Iranian ship in the Indian Ocean, stating that the vessel was unarmed, unloaded, and had participated in ceremonial exercises in India at India's invitation.

Khatibzadeh compared the US actions to those of Nazi Germany, which attacked unarmed ships far from conflict zones, and stressed that the deaths of young Iranian sailors must not go unanswered.

In addition, the Iranian deputy foreign minister said Iran is prepared to halt any potential US ground attack and stop any “colonial mission.”
