China Urges Respect for Iran’s Sovereignty, Territorial Integrity

The remarks were made during a press conference in Beijing, where China also called for an immediate halt to military operations and a return to dialogue to prevent further destabilization in the Middle East.

During the press confere/nce held in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People on Wednesday, March 4, Lou Qinjian, spokesperson for the fourth session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC), addressed questions from Chinese and foreign journalists regarding the agenda and activities of the NPC.

In response to inquiries about pressing international issues, including the recent attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel, Lou emphasized China’s close monitoring of developments in the region.

He stated that attack against Iran must stop and the country’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity must be respected.

On the broader implications of the conflict, China reiterated its stance on international relations and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Lou underscored China’s belief that mutual respect and equality among nations—regardless of their size—are fundamental to historical progress and the core principles of the UN Charter.

He asserted that no country has the right to dominate international affairs, dictate the fate of other nations, monopolize developmental benefits, or act arbitrarily on the global stage.

China also expressed its commitment to playing a constructive role in de-escalating tensions.

The spokesperson called for an immediate cessation of military actions to prevent further escalation of tensions.

He urged all parties to resume dialogue and negotiations to safeguard peace and stability in the Middle East.

Lou added that China, as a responsible global power, stands ready to contribute to resolving the crisis and maintaining regional stability.
