Addressing a gathering of foreign ambassadors to Iran, held in Tehran on Monday on the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, Araqchi said Iran is serious in negotiations and is pursuing real talks aimed at achieving results, provided that the other side also shows seriousness and preparedness for negotiations focused on outcomes.
He noted that whenever the Iranian nation has been addressed with the language of force, it has responded with resistance, and whenever it has been spoken to with respect, it has responded in kind.
The minister added that there is a wall of mistrust toward the US, which he said stems from Washington’s own conduct.
He expressed hope that the necessary trust could be built to allow negotiations to reach tangible results.
Araqchi also voiced hope that the coming year would be marked by peace and calm, with diplomacy prevailing over war, and that the region would experience greater tranquility.
Iran’s policy is based on close cooperation with its neighbors, he reiterated, expressing hope that all parties would work together to preserve regional peace and stability and to prevent escalation and confrontation.
