Pezeshkian Urges Strategic Plans for Free Zones Development

The remarks were made on Saturday morning during a ceremony marking the inauguration of civil, investment, and tourism projects in Iran’s free trade and industrial zones.

President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of adopting a strategic, forward-looking approach grounded in modern technologies for the development of these regions.

Referring to the need for properly guiding the development process of free zones, the president said current projects must be viewed within a comprehensive regional framework rather than in isolation. He noted that such a framework should be based on advanced technologies, deep future-oriented planning, and an advanced strategic structure capable of outlining a clear horizon for each free zone.

He also stressed that development pathways must be designed in a way that ensures newly established production and industrial units possess durability, competitiveness, high quality, and reasonable pricing.

During the inauguration ceremony, held online, several projects came into operation in the Aras, Qeshm, Arvand, and Chabahar free trade-industrial zones, as well as the Sahlan Special Economic Zone.

The launch of these projects was carried out in line with the administration’s core approach to achieving development goals, boosting investment, increasing employment, and strengthening the role of free zones in the country’s economic growth.
