Judiciary Plans Legal Action against EU over IRGC Blacklisting

In comments at a press conference on Tuesday, Judiciary spokesperson Asghar Jahangir addressed the EU’s recent decision regarding the IRGC.

He said the move by the European Union runs counter to legal norms and international procedures, noting that the EU has remained silent in the face of brutal actions by the Israeli regime and the Mossad in various parts of the world—actions he said promote state terrorism and genocide.

The spokesman stressed that the Judiciary is fully prepared to provide all forms of support for the IRGC, adding that Iran can take reciprocal measures in international bodies and legally condemn the EU’s decision.

Jahangir further referred to the baseless human rights action taken against Iran and the adoption of a related resolution, saying the UN Human Rights Council has shown that it has deviated from its core mandate and has come under the influence of certain hegemonic powers pursuing political objectives.

He said the resolution should have addressed terrorist acts, but instead made no reference to the terrorist nature of the recent unrest incited in Iran, during which many women and children were killed in an effort to fabricate casualties and create conditions for enemy intervention.

The Judiciary spokesman added that the UNHRC resolution amounts to nothing more than political pressure aimed at misleading public opinion, describing it as a repetitive scenario.
