The Gem County Sheriff's Office said the aircraft struck a power line at around 11 a.m. (1800 GMT) during flight before plunging into an icy section of a river, Xinhua reported.

Law enforcement officers, along with county fire and emergency services personnel, responded to the scene. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The incident also led to a power outage across eastern Gem County.
