The Iranian president made the remarks in a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday, during which the two sides exchanged views on recent developments in Iran, regional security issues, and ways to expand bilateral relations.
Pezeshkian explained the nature of the recent events in Iran, saying enemies had sought to exploit internal conditions to create instability. He stressed that the massive and conscious participation of the Iranian people in pro-government rallies had foiled those plots and defeated the objectives of the instigators of the unrest.
He also expressed appreciation to the Turkish government and people for their firm, principled, and brotherly support for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Iranian president noted that some peaceful protests by merchants and trade groups over economic difficulties caused by sanctions were being addressed through responsible dialogue and management. However, he said, organized terrorist groups backed by the United States and the Israeli regime escalated the situation by carrying out violent acts, including attacks on mosques, public and government buildings, emergency services, and security forces.
Referring to the continued support of Islamic countries, Pezeshkian voiced confidence that unity and cooperation among Muslim nations would play a key role in confronting terrorism and advancing lasting peace and stability in the region.
Highlighting the positive and robust state of Iran–Turkey relations, he reaffirmed Tehran’s determination to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and invited President Erdogan to visit Tehran to attend the ninth meeting of the Iran–Turkey High-Level Cooperation Council.
For his part, President Erdogan offered condolences over the loss of lives in the recent incidents and emphasized that Iran’s peace, stability, and security are of strategic and vital importance to Turkey. He praised Iran’s principled and organized approach to managing protests and welcomed the economic measures taken to help ease tensions.
Erdogan also reiterated Ankara’s firm opposition to any interventionist scenarios against Iran and conveyed his warm greetings to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, as well as to the Iranian government and nation.
