The Iranian sportspersons claimed 13 gold, 21 silver and 20 bronze medals.

Team Iran has moved down one place in the Games. Iran came sixth in 2018 Asian Games with 20 gold, 20 silver and 22 bronze medals.

Host China finished top of the Asian Games medals table with a record 201 golds.

China, who surpassed the 199 gold medals the country won at the Guangzhou Games in 2010, also won 111 silvers and 71 bronzes for a grand haul of 383 medals.

China finished well clear of Japan on 52 golds and South Korea, on 42, in the final medals table.

A record high of nearly 12,500 athletes from 45 countries and territories competed across 40 sports in the 2022 Asian Games.

Iran had sent 289 male and female athletes to the Games in 34 sports events.
