Iranian Para Taekwondo Practitioners Prepare Well for Tokyo

He added that Para taekwondo practitioners Pourahnama and Azizi are in the fourth stages of their trainings and train twice a day.

“We decided to analyze all the rivals, but our concentration is on the past events due to the pandemic,” Khanlarkhani said. “Right now, there is no news about the rivals from other countries but in the current year we can analyze the rivals by monitoring the Asian & European Championships.”

He emphasized that the training camp was closed for about six months due to coronavirus concerns but the athletes have begun their trainings since September and they are completely ready to achieve good results in the debut of Para taekwondo in Paralympic Tokyo 2021.

The Iranian Para taekwondo practitioners are going to participate in the 6th Asian Championships in April, and they will start training camp in March.

The Paralympic athletes are also the members of Iranian national team and they participate in preparatory events in order to get necessary scores in Paralympic seeding system.

Iran taekwondo federation has prepared all the facilities for Para taekwondo athletes, including coronavirus tests and health facilities. The training coach of the team in the camp is Mahdi Ahmadi.
