Iranian, Syrian Diplomats Discuss Israeli Atrocities in Gaza

During the meeting held on the sidelines of the emergency meeting of Palestine Committee of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) here in Tehran, the Syrian deputy foreign minister condemned the Israeli regime for committing crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.

He said supporters of the regime are the ones that have called for mounting military attacks on Damascus.

Mekdad commented on the brutal aggression of the Israeli regime on the Gaza, saying, “The countries, which allow Israel to continue its atrocities in Gaza and prevent the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) from taking action on this issue, are those who have asked the council to attack developing countries, including Syria, under false pretexts.”

The two sides also called on the international community to help end the crimes of the Zionist regime in the Gaza Strip.

On July 8, Israel launched air strikes on Gaza. After 10 days of bombardment of the enclave from the air and sea, the Israeli forces started a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

The death toll from 29 days of Israeli onslaught on the people of Gaza has reached 1,875 with more than 9,400 injured, according to Gaza’s health ministry officials.

UN figures show about two-thirds of the victims were civilians, drawing sharp criticism from around the world.
