Yemen Launches Retaliatory Strikes on Saudi Arabia After Deadly Attack Kills 33

The Saudi fighter jets bombed the village of Al-Shariyah in the Bani Hushaysh district, east of Sanaa, in an attack that inflicted heavy civilian casualties, Yemen’s Health Ministry spokesman Anis al-Asbahi said.

Al-Asbahi said the death toll had reached 33, including eight women and 13 children, while another 39 people were wounded and remained under medical treatment.

The attack on the residential area caused a major humanitarian tragedy, with civilians bearing the brunt of the Saudi military assault.

In response to the Saudi attack, the Yemeni Armed Forces announced six military operations targeting locations in Saudi Arabia using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones.

Explosions were subsequently reported in several parts of the kingdom, including Riyadh and Najran, while air-raid warning sirens were activated in both areas.

Reuters also reported that several explosions were heard in the Saudi capital.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition confirmed that two ballistic missiles had been launched by the Yemeni Armed Forces toward Riyadh.

The spokesman claimed that Saudi air defense systems had intercepted and destroyed both missiles, repeating assertions made by the coalition in previous incidents.
