Addressing an event in Iran’s western city of Khorramabad on Saturday, General Mousavi referred to the development of various unmanned aerial vehicles in Iran’s drone sector, saying the country possesses different types of Shahed-class drones, some designed for combat missions and others for surveillance and reconnaissance.

He noted that these products are the result of the ideas, innovation and operational experience of young people who have worked in the field, adding that Iran’s drone fleet has become one of the powerful tools used to defend the country.

Referring to the US’ emulation of Iran’s drone capabilities, the IRGC Aerospace Force commander said Washington had been forced to develop a drone similar to the Iranian Shahed-136 under the name “LUCAS” and introduce it as a weapon into its military arsenal.

Mousavi also said ‘Operation True Promise 1’ holds the record for the use of homegrown drones, emphasizing that the operation was carried out using drones operated by the IRGC Aerospace Force.
