According to reports from Palestinian news outlets, the Gaza-based news agency stated that during the initial phase of the ceasefire, 449 Gazan civilians were killed in Israeli airstrikes.
The agency further added that over half a million Palestinians are displaced from their homes and living in the streets due to Israel’s perceived failure to uphold its commitments during the first ceasefire phase.
Moreover, the news agency emphasized that Israel’s expansion of the so-called Yellow Line has constricted space for Palestinians, creating an even more precarious situation.
The Israeli army initiated its genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023, with the primary objectives of dismantling Hamas and rescuing Israeli captives.
However, the Israeli regime ultimately failed to achieve these goals, being forced to a brokered agreement with Hamas for prisoner exchanges.
Hamas officially announced the achievement of a ceasefire and hostage release agreement on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
The Israeli army officially declared the ceasefire in Gaza on Friday, October 18, 2024, but continues to obstruct its implementation.
The ongoing Israeli war in Gaza, backed by the United States, has caused extensive devastation, destroying 90% of Gaza’s infrastructure, with the United Nations estimating the reconstruction cost to be approximately $70 billion.
Palestinian Health Ministry reports indicate an increase in casualties, with the total number of Palestinian fatalities in Gaza reaching 71,441 since the start of the war on October 7, 2023.
Additionally, 171,329 Palestinians have been injured, according to Palestinian Health Ministry figures from the same period.
The United Nations continues to express concerns about the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.
