Israeli Strikes Kill 46 in Gaza within 24 Hours As Civilian Toll Mounts

Israeli forces continued their bombardment of the Gaza Strip on Saturday, killing at least 46 people in the last 24 hours, including 19 in Khan Younis this morning.

A Palestinian journalist was among the victims, according to local reports.

An Israeli drone strike on a house in central Khan Younis wounded several others, a correspondent on the ground said.

Overnight, at least nine Palestinians were killed in Israeli strikes on Khan Younis, marking a surge in attacks since Israel broke a ceasefire agreement in January.

The majority of strikes in the past 12 hours have been concentrated in Khan Younis, where women and children were reportedly among the 19 killed.

Israeli forces have targeted residential buildings and a makeshift tent shelter, Civil Defence authorities said.

Rescue workers are searching for survivors and retrieving bodies from beneath the rubble.
They warned that the death toll in Khan Younis could rise further.

Strikes also hit other parts of Gaza overnight, including the Az-Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, where at least two Palestinians were killed in attacks on homes.

Additional air raids were reported in the southern town of Rahah and in Beit Lahiya in the north.

Conditions for civilians are rapidly deteriorating, with residents seen searching for food and water in the early hours of the day.

No aid trucks have entered Gaza in the past month, leaving the population without food, fuel, medicine or shelter, local sources said.

Queues have formed for clean drinking water, and communal kitchens offering hot meals are expected to shut down soon due to lack of supplies.

Doctors report that hospitals are overwhelmed and struggling to treat the wounded amid critical shortages of medical equipment and basic necessities.

According to the Palestinian Information Center, a child was killed in an Israeli strike on tents sheltering displaced families in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis.

At least four others died in the same attack.

The United Nations said Israeli forces have killed or wounded 100 Palestinian children daily since the ceasefire was broken on March 18.

Since March 18, Israeli strikes have killed at least 1,309 people and injured 3,184, according to health officials.

The total Palestinian death toll since the Israeli genocidal war began on October 7, 2023, has surpassed 50,000.
